The Dominion Ranks Among Top 20 Friendliest Neighborhoods in America

A national study placed The Dominion at No. 20 on the list of friendliest American neighborhoods. The ranking came from All Star Home, which analyzed Google reviews for businesses across 200 neighborhoods tracked by Zillow. Nearly 14 percent of reviews for Dominion-based businesses used the word friendly. That put this San Antonio guard-gated community ahead of 180 other neighborhoods nationwide.

The methodology focused on customer experiences at local businesses rather than residential surveys. Coffee shops, dry cleaners, and pharmacies scored highest for friendly service across all markets studied. Several national retailers near The Dominion in the 78257 zip code, including The UPS Store and Great Clips, appeared among the friendliest big-box businesses in the report. The proximity to La Cantera and The Rim gives residents access to these service-oriented businesses within minutes.

San Antonio placed two neighborhoods in the top 50. The Great Northwest area ranked No. 30 with 13.18 percent of reviews described as friendly. Three other Texas communities made the top 10: Kingwood in Houston at No. 2, South Boulevard-Park Row Historic District in Dallas at No. 5, and South Hills in Fort Worth at No. 10. Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood took the top spot nationally.

The Dominion spans 1,500 acres in Northwest San Antonio and includes the Dominion Country Club. The land carries historical significance—Anson Jones, the last president of the Republic of Texas, once owned it. Later, the Toepperwein family purchased the property at the turn of the century. Adolph and Elizabeth Toepperwein earned recognition as the greatest sharpshooting team in history and still hold a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

Rankings like this reflect what residents already know about daily life here. The combination of security, amenities, and community involvement creates an environment where neighbors look out for each other.
